Is it time for trauma therapy?

Trauma isn’t only about what happened — it’s about how the nervous system keeps responding long after. People often reach out when a past experience still shows up as:

  • Intrusive memories, flashbacks, or nightmares
  • Feeling constantly on guard, tense, or easily startled
  • Avoiding people, places, or conversations that are reminders
  • Emotional numbness, or swinging between numb and overwhelmed
  • Trouble trusting others or feeling safe in relationships

You don’t need a formal PTSD diagnosis to benefit. If any of this sounds familiar, a first session is simply a chance to talk it through with someone who understands trauma.

What is EMDR, and how does it help?

EMDR — Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing — is an evidence-based therapy designed specifically for trauma. Rather than requiring you to retell every detail, it uses gentle, structured techniques to help the brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer carry the same charge. Many people find it helps them feel calmer and more in control without reliving the event over and over.

Sara pairs EMDR with attachment-based and relational work, so treatment fits the whole picture — not just a single memory.
